Choosing the Right Bollard Mount Type

Retractable and removable bollards function similarly to surface-mounted bollards, with the key difference being that they can be removed or hidden when not in use. These types are ideal for mixed-use areas where bollards are not always necessary. They work by installing a capsule or sleeve into the ground. For a retractable bollard, the capsule is the same depth as the bollard's height, allowing the bollard to fully retract into the ground when not in use. For removable bollards, the capsule is only deep enough to provide a sturdy insertion, so the bollard cannot be fully retracted. Instead, the bollard must be removed and stored elsewhere when not in use.
Anchored concrete bollards are a durable and versatile option for safety and design. Due to their variety of shapes and styles, they are often referred to as "decorative bollards," but they are more than just visually appealing. Retractable, removable, and anchored concrete bollards require more work to prepare the surface but can still be installed relatively easily.
